CPH and EEF sign new long term RPO contract
January 2010 - recruitment-international.co.uk, recruiter.co.uk, rpo.eu, personneltoday.com

CPH Consulting, specialist in-sourced direct recruitment solutions provider, has signed a new multi-year RPO contract with EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation.

'During 2009 we have created a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with EEF and are delighted to have signed a new long-term contract with them', commented Jerry Wright, Joint Managing Director of CPH.

Caroline Gumble, EEF's HR Director, added 'Over the last year we have established an excellent partnership with the CPH in-sourced recruitment team and have made very good progress in building an efficient and effective direct recruitment model. CPH Consulting/EEF survey - manufacturers urge retention of default retirement age
November 2009 – The Times, personneltoday.com, wwww.recruitment-international.co.uk

CPH Consulting, the specialist provider of talent management solutions for small, medium sized and emerging companies has sponsored a major Employment Survey undertaken by EEF, the manufacturers’ organization from which a report on retirement ages has just been published.

The survey of nearly 500 employers shows that more than two-thirds (68%) support the retention of the default retirement age of 65; support being slightly higher amongst large and medium size companies.

In addition, the survey shows that most requests by employees to postpone their retirement had been accepted by employers, indicating that the right to request arrangements are working well and are providing a useful “trigger” for employers to discuss future employment/retirement plans with their employees.

Commenting on these findings, Jerry Wright, Joint Managing Director of CPH Consulting said:

"Given the decline in pension and savings values in recent years, employees are now seeking the opportunity to extend their careers. It is, therefore, encouraging that many manufacturers whilst being supportive of the default retirement age are also adopting a flexible approach to staff requests to continue working beyond that time"

In addition, the CPH Consulting/EEF Employment Survey 2009 showed that:-

  • Just under half of employees who had reached age 65 in the last year had asked to postpone their retirement and continue working
  • The majority of requests to continue working after age 65 that were accepted by employers resulted in employees continuing in the same job on either a full-time or part-time basis
  • In only a few cases and generally in large companies, these requests resulted in employees working in a different job

CPH Consulting sponsor major EEF survey
November 2009 - Recruitment-international.com, Financial Times

CPH Consulting, the specialist provider of talent management solutions for small, medium sized and emerging companies has sponsored a major Employment Survey undertaken by EEF, the manufacturers' organisation from which a report on pension schemes has just been published.

Manufacturing companies are increasingly closing their defined benefit (DB) occupational pension schemes to new employees and, to a lesser extent, for future service to existing members, according to the study of pension arrangements.

The EEF/CPH Consulting Employment Survey 2009 of nearly 500 companies shows that, since 1998, the proportion providing a DB pension scheme to some of their employees has fallen from nearly half to just over a quarter. It also shows that amongst the rapidly declining number of manufacturers who have retained their DB scheme, an increasing number of them are now seriously considering closing their scheme to both new and existing members.

This survey shows that, in the face of increasing costs and administrative burdens, manufacturers have sought to reduce the risks to their business by increasingly moving from DB to defined contribution (DC) pension arrangements for all categories of employees over the last 10 years with the pace of this change being slightly faster for senior managers and executives.

Jerry Wright, Joint MD, CPH Consulting commented "In the face of the ongoing need for all companies to actively manage their cost base and liabilities, which includes de-risking their pension fund exposure, it is no surprise that the move from DB to DC pension schemes continues to gather momentum. For many years companies have used their DB scheme as a selling point to prospective new employees; clearly this is no longer the case and we are working with our clients to ensure that they are offering a competitive range of other employee benefits to ensure they can attract the right talent to their business".

Another new 'On Demand' client
August 2009 - personneltoday.com, recruiter.com, consultant-news.com

CPH Consulting, the specialist insourced recruitment solutions firm, has signed another new client for its 'On Demand' offering which is primarily aimed at small and emerging companies with lower volumes of recruitment.

CPH is delivering the service through one of its experienced corporate recruiters, who will directly source candidates across a range of disciplines and manage the end-to-end recruitment process for Axispoint's UK business.

Scott Russell, Joint MD of CPH Consulting commented, "We are delighted that there has been a positive take up of our 'On Demand' service. It demonstrates that there is still an appetite to hire amongst the smaller and early stage firms, even in a challenging market. Our value adding and cost reducing service offering clearly has appeal to this type of company."

'On Demand' service extended by CPH Consulting
June 2009 – personneltoday.com

CPH Consulting, the specialist insourced recruitment solutions firm, is extending its ‘On Demand’ service to companies that are looking to hire as few as five new employees per annum.

Scott Russell, Joint MD of CPH Consulting commented, "For some time we have been offering an ‘On Demand’ service to start up, early stage and emerging companies that typically need to hire 10-20 new staff. With many established and larger companies having limited hiring volumes in the current market, and start up companies being, understandably, more cautious with their initial recruitment plans, we have further developed our service and commercial model, to provide a viable and effective solution for smaller numbers of new hires"

In announcing the signing of a new 'On Demand' contract for a successful US based SaaS solution provider, Russell added that, "Unlike the majority of 'On Demand' recruitment solutions which simply utilise intelligent software to trawl the job boards for available candidates, our bespoke version of our higher volume on site direct sourcing model provides all of the benefits of the full service - a lower cost per hire, a reduced time to fill vacancies and less executive time spent on recruitment related activities. In addition to the new contract we have just signed, we are already in discussions with a number of other companies who can see the real benefits that our 'On Demand' solution delivers"
