Background
- In late 2009/early 2010 cph started discussions with the TalkTalk Business (TTB) HR team to establish the benefits and value to be realised from adopting a Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) solution.
- The main drivers behind their initial interest in an outsourced/in-sourced solution were to reduce their dependency on agencies for candidate sourcing; to attract better quality candidates, whilst strengthening their employer brand; and to provide greater support for the business managers through the recruitment lifecycle for the anticipated 250 hires per annum.
- Following a competitive tender process, cph were chosen as TTB’s preferred partner in late May 2010. cph commenced the implementation of the solution in June and had a fully embedded, onsite direct recruitment team of four in place by July.
- cph were selected as their RPO provider because of the flexibility, scalability and value of cph’s proposed solution, which fully met the needs of the business.
- Our in-sourced team were aligned to specific areas of the business where they had prior experience as Recruitment Business Partners, supporting the full recruitment lifecycle from initial vacancy approval, through candidate sourcing and attraction, screening and selection, through to offer management and new employee on-boarding.
Our Results To Date
- The primary, initial objective for our in-sourced recruitment team was to remove the reliance on agencies by building a robust direct sourcing and recruitment delivery model - by the end of our second month in the business all KPI’s were being achieved and agency dependence had been removed.
- In the first six months of our contract cph managed c160 vacancies -95% of them filled by direct sourcing and internal transfers, with agency hires down to 5%
- Our contract scope was to handle all recruitment activities for positions with a salary of up to £85,000 - including all internal, external and referred candidates for permanent, fixed-term and temporary positions. Based on the results we have delivered, we have subsequently been asked by the MD to handle a number of ‘Director’ and senior executive level appointments
- Our team established an excellent rapport with the business very early in the relationship and within six weeks we were delivering a return on investment for TTB - in the first few months of our contract we demonstrated that we could make significant cost savings, whilst the average ‘time to hire’ is now just over three weeks - a notable reduction on previous hiring timescales
- The early success of cph on site recruiting team resulted in them being independently nominated at the end of 2010 for TalkTalk’s annual ‘Roll of Honour’ for performance above and beyond that which is expected.
